Di Zola Jesus non so nulla, se non che questo suo EP “Stridulum” mi piace. Ha classe da vendere, mi riporta alla migliore Siouxsie Sue, ai primi Cure e con quella certa violenza visiva di Christian Death o Alien Sex Fiend.

Mi rivolgo ai vecchi darkettoni, impenitenti del gotico ed anche ai nuovi esistenzialisti. Questo è il vostro disco!

Al numero UNO un gruppo galattico, anzi Galactic con “Do It Again” e lasciate perdere qualsiasi cosa stiate facendo, questo è un pezzo mostruoso. Tutti in pista!!!!
Resistono nelle zone top della classifica i Sick Tamburo con “Parlami per Sempre” anche se l’album è zeppo di brani bellissimi, si potrebbe mettere la puntina a caso. Nuova entrata per Rain Machine, lavoro solista di Kyp Malone di TV On The Radio, “Natural Selection” segna, invece, il ritorno per Unkle, Audio Bullys sfornano un lavoro fantastico che sembra uscito dalla jungla(z) dei Gorillaz.
Su tutti però, voglio segnalarvi Zola Jesus, meraviglia. Credo di esserne già innamorato

Rain Machine conserva in parte il suono di TV On The Radio, portandolo a livelli, secondo me, più alti. “Give Blood” ne è l’esempio più potente, il resto sono percorsi nuovi che forse Kyp teneva per se.
Adoro i TV On The Radio ed anche questo fricchetone psichedelico non poteva non finire tra i preferiti di Radio Atlantide.

New Orleans è, secondo me, un po’ come il Brasile. Un luogo dove la musica trova terreno fertile per attecchire, lì si mischia, si re-inventa sempre nuova. Da luoghi come questi poi, si propaga in tutto il pianeta per trovare nuovi innesti. In questi luoghi, alla fine ritorna per rinascere.
E’ da lì, da New Orleans che arrivano i Galactic, anzi per quello che sanno far sentire, verrebbe da dire con loro sono New Orleans! (Vorrò poi aprire una parentesi sulla differenza tra sentire ed ascoltare ma lo farò in altro momento).

Ya-Ka-May è il nuovo album di Galactic e volendo cercare la massima sintesi, altro non si può dire che: “Galattico!” (Cosmico, ripeterebbe da Palo Alto il Professor Fontecedro).

Qui tutto si incontra, si mischia in un crossover esaltante. Album assolutamente imperdibile!.

Un  disco un po’ discontinuo, alterna episodi da riascoltare ad altri davvero ottimi. Nel complesso è  un lavoro molto buono, che merita la vostra attenzione.
Curtis Jones si porta nel nome che si è scelto le sue influenze, il disco infatti suona molto Joy Division (ma certo non solo quello).

“Kiss The Toad” ,  “The Devil“, “Before The Wave Arrives” e “Every Loser’s Heaven is a Desert“, sono già stabilmente tra gli irrinunciabili della mia giornata.
Alcuni di questi pezzi sicuramente non sfigurerebbero nelle classifiche nostrane, anzi, e magari a fianco di Editors o Interpol.
